“You walk among clattering four-foot marine iguanas heaped on the shore... You swim with penguins; you watch flightless cormorants dance beside you, ignoring you, waving the black nubs of their useless wings…The animals are tame. They have not been persecuted, and show no fear of man. You pass among them as though you were wind, spindrift, sunlight, leaves.”Annie Dillard, - Life on the Rocks: the Galapagos
With much deliberation, and with input from naturalists and guests, we have tailored a unique adventure in the Galapagos that no-one else offers: First, we have limited the number of guests to a small group of 15. We charter the safest, most reliable and comfortable yacht of its class. The crew and onboard naturalist we hire are the most experienced and competent in the islands. We chose the timing and the itinerary of the trips to coincide with the finest weather as well as the greatest diversity of wildlife activity the Galapagos has to offer. We explore off-lying islands which are not on the itinerary of most operators. In addition to the tours by skiff and on foot, we also offer short paddling excursions with kayaks, allowing us to get beyond the beaten path. All of our trips in the Galapagos are escorted by owners/operators Dag Goering and Maria Coffey or highly qualified Hidden Places Trip Leaders. This gives our trips a personal touch and a positive, nurturing ambiance for which we get rave reviews:
“The islands are magnificent. They were more than I could have hoped for. The hidden gem in the journey was the great care and attention to detail shown by Hidden Places. Your compassion and sensitivity to guests is first class. Your planning and attention to the specifics of what makes a memorable adventure is fantastic. Thank you!”
