While exploring
Europe 's most westerly headlands by kayak, we take in spectacular vistas of Irelands rugged coast and get a taste of the raw power
of the sea. At the end of these exhilarating excursions we tuck into protected coves to explore magical standing
stones, medieval castles and the haunting remains of pre-Famine
villages. Our local guides bring alive the rich history of this
area as, by kayak and occasionally on foot, we discover the wild
landscapes of the Dingle, Beara and Iveragh Peninsulas.
The highlight of this trip is an 8 mile crossing to the spiritual island of Skellig Michael, a rock pyramid rising 600 feet from the sea, and hike to the 6th century hermitage on its peak. As a finale, we paddle to the Blasket Islands
, perhaps in the company of Fungi, a friendly bottle-nosed dolphin
who loves kayaks! By night we retire to cozy inns for hearty meals,
pints of stout and lots of good 'craic' with local musicians and
storytellers. Join us on our Celtic Quest for an unforgettable paddling
adventure.
