Newsletter Jan 2025 – Winter and Spring Getaways
Happy New Year!
We hope you have had a peaceful start to 2025.
Next week Dag and I are heading to the Cape Verde Islands off the coast of West Africa (see top photo). It will be our first time there and we’ll be doing what we love best – exploring and scouting for a new Hidden Places trip. We’ll keep you posted.
Speaking of new trips: in April, we will accompany our first Greek Walking Adventure, on Santorini and Crete. We’ll stay in lovely boutique, historic hotels, meet inspiring local people, and revel in the wild landscapes.
We carefully crafted this flexible itinerary, including daily walks of varying lengths and on a variety of terrains. If on any day you decide not to walk, there will be other options that you will enjoy. And for most of the walks, it is possible to ‘exit’ partway through and meet our vehicle.
If you prefer a shorter trip, you have the option to simply join the trip in Crete and skip Santorini altogether. The price will be adjusted accordingly.
There are just a few places left, so if you think you might be interested, do get in touch a.s.a.p. For more information see: https://www.hiddenplaces.net/cultural-walking-greece/
This time last year, I was recovering from a serious foot fracture and wondering if I would be able to join our first Japan: Walking, Culture and Cuisine trip. But I trained hard and managed to walk every step of the way – it was an utter delight! We’re running the trip again this coming May. Following two ancient trails through rural Japan, we’ll go deep into the culture, history of this fascinating county. When not on foot, we travel by train, which is an added pleasure. And of course, we explore the wonders of Japanese cuisine!

Wishing you all best as 2025 unfolds – and hoping to see you along the way!
